Who is Rowena?

Rowena Ball was born and brought up in Hertfordshire (somebody had to be) before escaping to Bristol in 2011. She has lived there ever since, aside from a year-long stint in northern Italy and southern France. It was during this year abroad that she first started blogging, originally under the name The Lingua Files, to the joy of least four people, two of whom were not blood relatives.

After leaving university Rowena's life was no longer taken up with remembering adjectival endings and sunning herself on the Mediterranean coast, but she still found she had more to blog about than ever before. Most of the lifestyle blogs she stumbled across focused on a lifestyle she couldn't relate to, full of exotic holidays, high-end beauty products, and hipster brunch spots. From what she could see, most people in their twenties were experiencing a great deal of confusion, anxiety, and purposelessness, but nobody seemed to be writing about that. This is why Where is Rowena?, a guide to getting lost in your twenties, was created: to be a lifestyle blog about a real lifestyle, albeit not a particularly healthy or advisable one.

As well as blogging, Rowena has at least three incomplete novel manuscripts on her computer, which she will occasionally open, stare at for a few minutes, and then close when they refuse to write themselves. When she isn't writing she can usually be found wrapped in a duvet watching early episodes of The Simpsons and eating Jaffa Cakes.
